My first act of theft !
14 May 2013 09:10I finally decided to steal this from Mark of the Asphodel (and probably others) in order to break the flow of folk tales (the final result might sound awkward to real English-speakers, but it's awfully fun to translate... and I have many other books just waiting to be picked up). So, pick a character, preferably from Fire Emblem (although any of the games that I mentioned at any point are also fine ; and European comics are probably fine too), and I'll tell you...
- My first impressions of them.
- What I think of their design.
- What I think of their role in the story.
- What I think of their interactions with other characters.
- My favorite aspect of the character overall.
- What could have been improved or changed with regards to the character.
- My number one wish for this character.
RIP, Gregor
14 May 2013 09:39Now that I've seen it, I can say this safely : Gregor's way of speaking was butchered by the French translation team, there's no other way to put it. His French speech reads like a 80s teenager's. I repeat, they went through the trouble of making Donnel sound like a XIXth-century peasant ; why couldn't they be bothered to make Gregor sound convincingly foreign ?
Another thing I'm not happy about : Ìñigo's way of speaking about his skirt-chasing has become noticeably more vulgar and it just... doesn't feel right.
And one thing that's just sad : Stahl and Sully's paired ending is titled "Stahl and Sully". Or something like that. Er, the point is, they left the English "and" instead of putting an "et".
Now, I'm just waiting to see how Henry's puns were translated... and if Aversa still alludes to the fact that Excellus is an eunuch.
Gameplay addendum : I refuse to believe that Stahl has a 50% growth rate in Speed. In my playthrough, he's level 14 and hasn't even reached 10 Speed. At least Sully is fast enough for two and he's got a ridiculous amount of Strength and Defense to make up for it.
And because I'm still knee-deep in Erebus, Perpentach > Gangrel
