... Sorry. Now, it's only a matter of hours before I give it to Adèle (Alice will be out of town for the whole week-end). And it has an artbook with it ! The choice of characters represented seems rather... random, since at least Stahl, Donnel, Miriel, Ricken, Maribelle, Olivia, Gregor and Virion are absent (Kellam too, but that's only natural. Zelcher is there, though she's called Cherche because the book's in English), and among the children, only Lucina (as Marth) and Gerome are present.

And of course, I've been grinning like an idiot for the last 30 minutes.

... Désolée. Maintenant, ce n'est plus qu'une question de temps avant que la cartouche soit bien en place dans la 3DS d'Adèle (Alice sera en week-end scout). Et il y a un artbook avec, oh yeah ! Mais la sélection de personnages semble un peu... aléatoire, vu que parmi les parents, au moins Stahl, Maribelle, Ricken, Olivia, Gregor, Miriel, Donnel et Virion sont absents (Kellam aussi, mais c'est normal). Et parmi les enfants, on n'a que Lucina (ou plutôt, Marth) et Gerome;

Et bien sûr, depuis que le jeu est dans mon sac, je n'arrête pas de sourire comme une idiote. Mon Dieu, la journée s'annonce dure.

Apparently, the king of Thracia no longer shares his name with the quintessential East German car. It's "Travant", now.

... So I spent the last weekend collecting Trabant jokes for nothing. (well, not quite, I'm sure that kind of humour is always good to have when you're writing about the bleak realities of the Soviet Block from the 70s to 1989.)

In other (good) news, we're done with the Tilnanogue nonsense. It's Tirnanog, thank you very much.

 Panne et Cherche ont bel et bien changé de nom pour la version française. Elles s'appellent à présent Palne et Zelcher. Qui l'aurait vu venir ? Quant à l'Avatar, il/elle se nomme désormais Daraen.

Sinon, Lon'qu s'appelle maintenant Lon'zu, mais tout le monde s'en fiche.

Ne reste plus qu'à mettre quelques dialogues de soutiens à jour...

Faits intéressants, la traduction néerlandaise garde les mêmes noms que la version américaine, tandis que les versions italienne et portugaise nomment toujours l'Avatar "Robin" mais ont aussi repris Palne et Zelcher.

Les enfants n'étant pas présentés sur le site officiel de Nintendo (sans doute pour éviter de nous gâcher la surprise), on peut encore avoir des surprises de leur côté.

 I'll admit it now for good and all, Winx Club is a guilty pleasure of mine, in the "I enjoy to point out all the ridiculous things inside" way. Or in a "I mock my 11-year-old sister for having a passing interest in it while never missing the last episode" way. Anyway, a bit of poking around in the Fire Emblem: Awakening voice cast led me to discover that Sam Riegel (who voiced Donnel and Stahl) provided Riven's voice for the Nickelodeon dub. I was definitely curious to see how he sounded as a jerk with a heart of gold, given that Stahl and Donnel are among the nicest guys in Ylisse, so I watched the 1-hour specials.

And I noticed something else ; of all things, Lord Darkar's voice sounded familiar. Kind of like... Doctor John's (from Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers)

Guess what. Michael Dorn voiced them both. It's a small world after all...

And I'm definitely watching that second special again

Je hais celui qui a décidé que "Cherche" était un meilleur nom que "Serge" - même pour une femme. Quoi qu'il en soit, il faut faire avec en attendant de savoir si elle recevra un nouveau nom dans la version FR...
EDIT : Eh oui, elle a un nouveau nom. Et comme diraient les Anglais, Zelcher is a fucking awesome name. (Et cela ne fait que cimenter Zelcher/Stahl comme mon OTP du moment. Germanic names for the win !)

I've been complaining for a long time (at least privately) that most characters look uncomfortably alike in that manga. The artist doesn't seem to be able to draw more than 3 different types of faces, and hair and clothes styles do not always help.

... Still, I felt really dumb when I read chapter 44 and mistook Midia for Marth

Ok, I still suck at finding titles.

Anyway, with Fire Emblem : Awakening being currently released in the USA, I'm already trying to find scripts, supports and the like... Worst thing is, there is already a thread on SerenesForest with quite a few support convos.

And to think I was bashing the game months ago. Well, there are still things I don't like at all, but by God, Stahl and Frederick's supports more than make up for it. Among others. Not to mention that Gaïus, the candy-loving thief, is voiced by Gideon Emery... If the EU version has English voices, let me tell you, I'll jump right to the nearest Micromania on the EU release day and I'll "convince" one of my sisters to lend me a 3DS.

Also, I guess that the reference to Cain and Abel as heroes of yore in Stahl and Sully's support means that Akaneian history eventually forgave Abel, in a way similar to how accessory names in Vagrant Story showed that Final Fantasy Tactics' characters ended up being rehabilitated. It doesn't make Mark of the Asphodel's brilliant early fictions any less poignant or depressing, but... I was pleased by that little touch.
