Longbows and crossbows
21 Apr 2013 00:27 I know I don't have much chance of playing MediEvil in the foreseeable future (too much action), but it doesn't prevent me from liking it.
Something finally struck me as odd as I was watching Necroscope86's Let's Play of the first game for the umpteenth time : Dan's crossbow is a present from an English archer, while his longbow is given by a centaur with something that looks like a French accent (at least, as the Necroscope pointed out, he pronounces Daniel's name in the French way, but even when using French words, he pronounces his "r" in the English way). And as Crécy (which is roughly in the same time frame, because we're lucky) taught us, the French lost precisely because they relied on crossbows, which were far less efficient than the English longbows. Well.
Also, from what little I've seen of the various French translations, they don't seem to be really consistent on the name of Dan's homeland. Sometimes it's Gallowmere, other times it's "la Potencie" (nice transposition if you ask me). And I'm sure I heard the voice of MediEvil: Resurrection's French narrator (who took the role again for Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale) somewhere, but I can't quite place it. It would be easier, of course, if I had any way of finding his name.
